Welcome to Crenshaw Middle School

Where did it go? The school year will soon be over and summer vacation will begin.

It has been a very busy year with many highlights. Our students have worked hard to build a tradition of success here at Crenshaw Middle School. They were engaged in many enriching learning activities within their classrooms, working with our dedicated staff. May you and your families have a sensational sum-mer filled with good health, fun, and relaxing activities.

8TH GRADE RECOGNITION

Parents of 8th graders are cordially invited to attend our 8th Grade Awards Program on May 31st, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. in our gymnasium. Many students will be honored for their achievements. Following the assembly, a reception will be held in the cafeteria. Parents are welcome to sign their students out early. Eighth grade students may return in the evening for the 8th grade dance. It is the culminating event to end the year for our 8th graders.

NOTES ON THE 8TH GRADE DANCE

The dance for all 8th grade students is Wednesday, May 30, 2012 from 6-7:30 PM. Students are to dress NICELY. No T-Shirts or jeans. Dress shoes preferred. Young ladies may NOT wear dresses which are strapless or have spaghetti straps. Wear a cover-up if this applies to your dress. Limousines are not necessary. This is not a prom. It is simply a dance.

7th to 8th GRADE SCHEDULING

Teachers are in the process of recommending students for various levels of classes such as algebra and science for high school credit. Much like their schedule this year, students will be enrolled in their four core classes (math, lan-guage arts, social studies, and science) and several of our exploratory offerings (P.E., art, music, Gateway to Technol-ogy, band, or choir). Homeroom assignments will be posted on the front doors of the school approximately one week before school starts in August.

END OF YEAR

Fees: Please check with the office or your student's teachers for balances owed. Damaged books, candy money, library fees, etc. must be rectified before the end of the year. All fees must be paid before you will receive your student's report card. We appreciate your help in getting fees paid in a timely manner.

After June 5th, unpaid fees may be turned over to collections and/or accompanied by a theft report with the Canton City Police Department. Thank you for your attention in this matter.

Report Cards:  Report Cards will be mailed home after June 6, 2012

Address Changes: If you anticipate a change in your address or phone number, please communicate this to our school office. Our office will close for the summer on June 8, 2012 and reopen on August 2, 2012.

Expect the Great!

Welcome to our newly designed and updated web site. We hope the information provided here gives you a small taste of what Crenshaw Middle School is all about.  Crenshaw Middle School has always enjoyed an excellent reputation in our community and throughout the state of Ohio since it opened in 1972.  In spite of the many changes we have faced recently, I feel very strongly that we have not compromised in the slightest our emphasis on academics and high standards with regard to discipline and behavior.  In addition, this year we have put in place a school wide plan which emphasizes technology, first rate lesson design, and a school motto "BRAVO", which stands for _B_uilding _R_elationships through _A_ctions which _V_alue _O_thers.  Our three teaching teams meet regularly to plan/provide quality instruction and meet the educational, social, and emotional needs of our students and their families.  Our exploratory programs (Art, Instrumental Music, Vocal Music, Physical Education, and Interscholastic Athletics) provide ample opportunity for our students to excel beyond the realm of "book learning".  And, we continue to offer a wide variety of after school programs essentially free of charge for our students.  I extend to you all an invitation to come into our building, visit, and get a chance to see first hand what Crenshaw Middle School is all about.  Feel free to contact me at any time either by phone (330-454-7717) or by email. Thank you for taking the time to browse our website.
